Race two of the Shoe Clinic Mountainbike Duathlon Series is on Sunday. Despite the slightly exciting looking weather pattern building to the west, Rabbit Island seems to live a charmed life and the race will go on whatever the weather. However, I predict it will be fine, although I probably won't get a job with the MetService on the basis of that.
If you intend to race, please enter online sooner rather than later. If you entered race one and wish to add race two (and/or here), just login with your email address and tick the right boxed. Don't untick race one, as that will mess up the billing system. If you want to keep your options open, please enter anyway and select the option of paying at the event. We won't charge you if you don’t come. It helps the timing team hugely if they're not having to enter your details on the day.
At the monthly club committee meeting this week, a programme for the next 12 months was thrashed out, with 32 events proposed, including an autumn duathlon series, a summer triathlon series, the Port Nelson Summer Sea Swim Series, the Clements Endurance Swim Series and, of course, the Shoe Clinic Mountainbike Duathlon Series.
In the immediate future, we have the finale of the current duathlon series on May 24. The mid-winter multisport triathlon at Greenslade Park on Rabbit Island will be at 8am on June 21. This event starts with a kayak section. There will also be short and long duathlon option. Details are to be confirmed.

In the meantime, the site is updated weekly where possible, so keep an eye out for news and information. As time allows, we'll be adding a youth page for our fast-expanding group of junior competitors and a noticeboard/marketplace page, where you can sell your old bike, advertise for training partners or ask for advice.
In the meantime, numbers continue to grow for Sunday's duathlon race. Remember, there are shoes, a mountainbike, a luxury weekend away and many other prizes on the line at race three, but you have to be there.
