Final results for race two of the Shoe Clinic Mountainbke Duathlon Series went up on the website on Wednesday. We apologise for the delay. If you want to see them right now click here.

A new version of or timing software has thrown up some odd glitches, which I won't try to explain here. There's also the purely logistical difficulty of catching everyone's numbers as they come through, especially after the first leg, when everyone is closely bunched. Also the odd maverick who runs past the timer when they shouldn't. Thanks to Karen Linyard and Bernie Whittaker, who spent long hours unravelling the results in both race one and two. Fingers crossed we're on to the problems that may occur in race three.

The most unforunate part of the timing glitches was that we missed the stunning performance of 13-year-old Pip Dalley.

This was Pip's first duathlon. She started out promisingly, about fifth of the women in the short race after the first run. She had the third quickest time in the bike ride, so she was in a good spot. However, it was her final run that tidied things up, as she shot past Jane Martin and Andrea Livingston to win the race by four seconds. Unfortunately, she missed on all the publicity, something I hope we'll be able to make up to her in race three, just over a week away.

If you want to look great and go faster in race three, Shoe Clinic has a deal going for all competitors up until the end of the series. All Brooks shoes and the Brooks Nightlife range of clothing will be discounted by 15%. Go and talk to Brett and his staff and they'll make sure you have everything you need. Of course, you may win yourself one of three pairs of Brooks shoes or one of 20 Nightlife T-shirts at the final race, but you'll have to be there to be in the draw.

If you haven't yet entered for race three, you can do that online. Please make sure you leave the boxes ticked for the races you've already done. Just add a tick to race three. If you want to go and do it now, click here. If you entered race two at the event and gave us your email address, you'll find you're on the entry website already, you just need to add a tick to race three and there'll be no forms to fill in next time.

We've been hard at work tidying up the database on our new club website, which is where this newsletter is coming from. If you know of people who entered at the race last week, but didn't give us their email address, forward this on to them. Alternatively, anyone can go to the website www.nelsontriclub.co.nz and add themselves to the mailing list,

Also on the website this week is our programme of races for the next year. We've been made aware of the clash with the date we had selected for the Mid-winter Multisport Triathlon, so that's now rescheduled for July 5. More detail will be on the website in the next week or so. The programme is being printed on a card for ready access. If you'd like to print your own version, click here.

There'll be more news to follow the final race, but updates and news will go on the website as they come to hand.

See you at the races

Peter Gibbs
