The Clements Windows and Doors Endurance Series of four longer swims will provide an extra challenge, particularly for those swimmers targeting the Banana Boat Ocean Swim series, held nationally (for details of the Banana Boat Series, click here
Race 1 – Opening Splash, starts at 9.45am Sunday November 29, 2020, and is a 2km swim.
Opening Splash is a reversal of the Eyebright Mile. Start at Tahunanui Beach and finish at the yacht club ramp. Short option, start at Richardson St Steps, swim to the yacht club, 600m (must sign on at Tahunanui Beach by 9.30am). High tide 10.14am (3.8m).
Race 2 – Eyebright Mile, starts at 8am Sunday January 10, 2021, and is a 2km swim.
This is the traditional race from the Nelson Yacht Club ramp to Tahunanui. We also have a shorter option (1300m) from Richardson St steps, starting at 8.00am.
Everyone must register first at the yacht club by 7.45am. High tide 7.57am (3.6m).
Race 3 – Clements Challenge, 2.8km time 10.00am, Sunday February 14, 2021, A new race, new course! Race starts at the Yacht Club, out to the dolphin navigation marker, through the cut, swim to the next dolphin navigation marker and then head to Tahunanui beach for the finish! This is will be a solid swim against the tide to the cut but then enjoy the long leg to the finish line with the tide. A short course option will also be available – at this stage, it will be from Richardson St steps. Final details of this course will be confirmed early January 2021.
High tide 12.29pm (4.2m).
Race 4 – Clements Ironman Challenge, 3.8km 10.00am, Sunday March 28, 2021,
Swimmers head north from Tahunanui Beach, starting at 10.00am and will reach the dolphin navigation marker at about high tide, turning south to follow the southeast toe of Haulashore Island around to the second navigation marker to the south of the island, then back to the beach. Competitors in the short swim of 1300m will walk to the Richardson St steps, swimming straight back to Tahunanui Beach, starting 30 minutes after the 3.8km race. All competitors must register at Tahunanui Beach by 9.45am. High tide 10.33am (4.2m).
