Here’s a chance for the serious triathletes to get down and dirty in a real race.

It’s also a chance for those new to the sport and who are happy to be back in the pack to race over a distance of their choice. For non-swimmers, there are duathlon options over two distances.

Here are the options:
Sprint triathlon: 750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run
Short triathlon: 250m swim, 10km bike, 2km run
Sprint duathlon: 2km run. 20km bike, 2km run
Short triathlon: 1km run, 10km bike, 1km run

The swim will be set on a flat triangular course, with the 250m course just taking in the base of the triangle.

The bike will start with a short neutral section, continue on a 5km road loop, heading south to a turn by Greenslade Park and continuing on the loop until the required number of laps are done, then back on the neutral section to transition.

The run is on a 1km loop, mostly sealed, but with an unsealed section along the old road above the beach.

Discounts apply to club members (20%) and school students (50%). To join the club online, click here. A family discount applies to this event, with a maximum $30 entry fee per family. To obtain this discount, enter the code FAMILY, which will result in a zero online charge. Payment will be made in cash at the event.

Following Tri NZ and ITU practice, age is taken for school competitors at January 1, 2019 and for adult competitors at December 31, 2019. School competitors must be 10 years or older.
Team entry is also $20 – there will be no age groups for teams – just a team category.

Please take the time to read these rules.
Drafting will be allowed on the bike leg. Participants are asked not to use aero bars if they find themselves in a drafting situation and should not attempt to draft if they are unfamiliar with the skills required.

The course is not closed to traffic. It is the participants’ responsibility to keep left and ride single file unless passing.

Entrants under 18 take part at parent’s discretion.

It is the participants’ responsibility to make themselves aware of the race rules; the race courses; to attend the compulsory race briefing and to participate in a safe and responsible manner.
