Race Day Timeline
8.30-9.30: Registration and rack bikes
9.45am: Race briefing
Following the race, a barbecue will be held, free to competitors. There will also be a small prizegiving (spot prizes only)
Four Race options
1. Long Multisport triathlon: Kayak 8km, mountain bike 17km, run 3.4km
2. Short multisport triathlon: Kayak or Paddleboard 4km, mountain bike 8.5km, run 1.7km
3. Long Mountain bike duathlon: Run 3.4km, mountain bike 17km, run 3.4km
4. Short mountain bike duathlon: Run 1.7km, mountain bike 8.5km, run 1.7km
The flat water kayak follows a course upstream to the Great Taste Trail bridge, returning to Greenslade Park. Competitors in the long event complete two laps. Stand Up Paddleboards may also be used. Competitors may choose just to paddle, without going on to compete in bike and run. Please notify registration on race day if this is your intention.
At the start of the bike course, competitors walk their bikes across the road and follow a marked course on the west side of the island for a course of 8.5km. Competitors complete the circuit once for the short events and twice for the longer events.
The run and walk course of 1.7km combines road, grass and gravel track for a circuit to the south and east of the transition area. Competitors in the long event will complete two laps.

A family discount applies to this event, with a maximum $30 entry fee per family. To obtain this discount, please enter as normal, select ‘Family 1st’ to pay the $30 and enter in the Family name. Unless entering as a team each family member must fill in their own registration. There is no fee when selecting ‘Family 2nd, 3rd or 4th’ only ‘Family 1st’ pays the fee.
Note also that to encourage pre-race entries, race day entries will attract a $5 penalty and no club discounts apply. If you’re uncertain over whether to compete and wish to avoid the late entry penalty, please enter online, choosing the Pay at Event option. Should you not compete, no charge will be made.
Race rules/code of conduct
Rules include approved helmets must be worn (ANSI, SNELL or NZSS); bare torsos not allowed in cycle or run legs; race number provided must be worn or shown; participants responsible for ensuring their cycles are in a safe rideable condition.
The course is not closed to traffic. It is the participants’ responsibility to keep left and ride single file unless passing.
Entrants under 18 take part at parent’s discretion.
